Ahead of an interview for IGN, Diablo 4 director Joe Shely and general manager Rod Fergusson D2R Items opened up on what the latest adventure has to offer fans of the series, as well giving a glimpse into how the story mechanics will differ from the Diablo games that have come before it.
"One one of the problems with putting 'open world' in the form of a huge neon and then flashing that sign is that people will be able to get that idea of Breath of the Wild or 'oh it's entirely natural and I'm able to travel anywhere and do anything'," Fergusson said, as transcribing by NME.
"That's not our story at all. Our story is non-linear but it does have an underlying story. We wanted to have an opening, middle and a conclusion.
"You will not be able to continue the story for long which is the best thing about the open world," Fergusson added. "There's many side-quests, lots of activities which aren't on the gold path."
Rumour has it, Blizzard could be preparing to launch Diablo 4 in April 2023. According to reports recently the Diablo 4's probable "2023" release window can be shortened to April. Early access expected to D2R Ladder Items Buy begin in February and orders for pre-orders starting as early as next month.
